Arsenal has made a brilliant move to bring Wojciech Szczesny to the Emirates Stadium as they prepare for Aaron Ramsdell’s departure.
He started as a replacement for Ramsdell, who lost his Gunners place to David Ray and is expected to leave in the summer.
Arsenal are keen to bring in a goalkeeper at home to help the Premier League side comply and Szczesny has been suggested as a possible option.
The Pole, 34, came through the academy and made 181 appearances for the Gunners before joining Juventus in 2017. Juventus increased Szczesny’s availability as they worked out a deal to sign Michel Di Gregorio from Monza this summer.
But a deal for Szczesny looks difficult as he is paid £100,000-a-week after tax.
He has been number 1 at Juventus this season, has a year left on his contract, is based in Turin and it is not yet clear whether Ryan will be interested in the reserve game. Brighton’s Jason Steele is another Arsenal target, but he still has two years left on his contract. The 33-year-old, who played with Raya at Blackburn earlier in his career, has been linked with Bart Verbruggen at Brighton this season.
Arsenal are also one of the top European clubs chasing Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaji. He fits the profile that Arsenal wants as a goalkeeper, as he is good with the ball at his feet, but he is not willing to give up on being a guaranteed starter at the age of 22.
Arsenal are keen to sign a homekeeper amid uncertainty over the future of a number of players in their squad.
Newcastle are on course to sign Ramsdale, who is expected to leave in search of first-team football.
Eddie Nketiah, Emily Smith Rowe, James Hillson, and Reiss Nelson could also leave this summer.
Arsenal will continue to support Mikel Arteta in the transfer market and their priorities are defenders, midfielders, and forwards.
The Gunners are desperate for a left-footed defender and are interested in 18-year-old Jorrell Hato, despite signing a new contract with Ajax in March. Ajax hopes Hato, who has taken over from the Dutch giants, will stay for at least another season, but he will eventually be sacked.
The new striker is a key target for Arsenal and they will likely look to bring in someone who can play wide. Kai Havertz has excelled as a No.9 this year and his good form has forced Arsenal to rethink their plans.
The club has long wanted to bring in competition for Bukayo Saka and is looking for a player who can operate on both wings.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of Wolves winger Pedro Neto and have scouted Athletic Club’s Nic Williams. Forwards Benjamin Sesko and Santiago Gimenez have also been watched and could be options as they can play wide.
