David Raya won the Golden Glove award amid uncertainties over his future at Arsenal.

David Raya is guaranteed to win the Premier League Golden Glove award after Everton’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town yesterday.

Jordan Pickford was the only goalkeeper in with a chance of overtaking the Arsenal No.1, who kept an impressive 14 clean sheets this term.

However, the England international was beaten by Elijah Adebayo’s equalizer as the Hatters picked up a valuable point in their battle to beat the drop.

Raya is now guaranteed to win at least part of the prestigious award, but will he win it outright should Bournemouth knock him out on Saturday afternoon as the Gunners look to cement their place at the top of the table?

The 28-year-old will become the third Arsenal goalkeeper to collect the award after Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech, who won the award in 2013/14 and 2015/16, each with 16 clean sheets.

Despite an impressive debut campaign for the north London club, Mikel Arteta refused to confirm Rayo’s long-term future at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Raya joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Brentford in the summer and while the Gunners can make the deal permanent for a fee of £30m, Arteta has stopped short of confirming the club’s intention to do so.

He said: “These talks are after the season, we will assess where we are. We are of course really happy with David and everything he has brought to the club and the team. No doubt about it.

But all those decisions have to be made between all of us at the club and we’ll see.

Despite Arsenal’s excellent defensive performances, Raya was guilty of several high-profile errors, including the error that gave Tottenham a way back into last weekend’s north London derby.

Reacting to the mistake after the match, which Arsenal eventually won 3-2, Raya said: “I learned from the mistakes. If you don’t make mistakes, you don’t learn. It’s part of football, everyone makes mistakes.

But the thing is, when a goalkeeper makes a mistake, it’s normally a goal and it’s more visible, more talked about compared to a striker who misses a tap-in or whatever.

“But that’s just part of football and you learn from it, that’s the most important thing. You just learn from mistakes.’
