An American company has built a flame-throwing robot dog that can be purchased online.
Dubbed the Thermonator, this four-legged robot features a back-mounted ARC flamethrower capable of shooting streams of fire up to 30 feet away. The robot, designed by Ohio-based company Throwflame, is not advertised as a weapon, with the manufacturer suggesting possible uses including wildlife control, snow and ice removal, and general entertainment.
Throwflame described his creation as the world’s first-ever flamethrowing quadrupedal robotic dog capable of distributing “fire on demand anywhere”.
Footage of the incendiary dog posted on the company’s website shows it running and jumping across various terrains, from forests to snow, while shooting streams of fire. It also uses its laser sight, flashlight, and light-sensitive mapping capabilities to operate at night.
Weighing just 2.9 lbs and measuring less than one square foot in diameter, the tiny silver robot can be controlled remotely via wifi or Bluetooth and has a battery life of up to one hour.
Similar to the drones used on the battlefield in Ukraine, the first-person view robot provides a video feed that allows users to control it from their phones.
