A man was seriously assaulted in Liverpool; his condition is critical.
A 30-year-old is in a critical condition following a serious attack in Liverpool on Tuesday night, police said.
Merseyside Police said at around 9 pm on Tuesday that a man was attacked on Temple Street in Liverpool city center before being taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
A 30-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting Section 18. He remains in police custody.
It was a brutal attack which unfortunately left the man in hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Inspector Kev O’Rourke The third man fled the scene and police were trying to find him.
Police said they believed the attack was linked to an earlier incident involving three men at the Poste House bar on Cumberland Street.
Merseyside Police Detective Constable Kev O’Rourke said: “This was a brutal attack which unfortunately left a man in hospital in a critical condition.
“A man has been arrested and our investigation is in the very early stages as we try to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.
“Several police cordons remain in place and officers are in the area to speak to potential witnesses and carry out CCTV inquiries,” O’Rourke added.
“If you have any information about this incident, please let us know immediately. If you live in the area or were passing by at the time of the incident, please review your CCTV or dash cam footage to see if you have captured anything that you think may assist our inquiries.’
