Olivier Ntcham has revealed he left Celtic because he was BORED of winning every trophy in Scotland.
The Cameroon international ended his spell at Parkhead after four years, although he spent the last six months on loan at Marseille before making a permanent move to Swansea City three years ago. Former Man City boy Ntcham now plays his football with Turkish Super Lig side Samsunspor and has revealed his motivation to leave the Scottish Premiership champions.
He said: “I left Celtic because at the time I didn’t think I could win any more trophies with them. I was there for three seasons and we won everything, all the trophies. So I thought it was the right time to leave. But he had I had some disagreements with the club because they didn’t want me to leave and because of that we had a very bad relationship.
“But I don’t have any bad thoughts about Celtic. That’s football at the end of the day and that’s football sometimes. I wish them the best and I was very happy to be there.”
And Ntcham – who won eight trophies during his time at Celtic – admitted he will always cherish the memory of scoring the only goal in the Old Firm game in 2018, where his second-half strike handed Steven Gerrard his first defeat as Rangers manager at Parkhead.
He recalled: “It was unbelievable, it was an amazing feeling to score the only goal. There are no words that can be used for this type of game, but it was great. The feeling, the full stadium, everything. The stadium was shaking and that moment I gave that goal was unbelievable, it was an amazing feeling and I’m still trying to describe the excitement.
“I had a feeling that morning that we were going to win the game. At that time we played a style of football where we spent a lot of time with the ball. I knew we were going to create a lot of chances and I thought I could score a goal or two so I knew we were going to win that game and I was going to do something.”
