Ukraine is ranked as a top priority.
President Biden compared the current US military assistance to Ukraine to Franklin Roosevelt’s 1941 State of the Union, delivered less than a year before the US entered World War II. He warned that without more help, Kyiv’s defenses against Russia could crumble. Biden emphasized the importance of freedom and democracy in the world and warned of issues both domestically and abroad. He emphasized that Ukraine can stop President Vladimir Putin by standing with Ukraine and providing the necessary weapons to defend itself. However, assistance for Ukraine is being blocked by those who want the US to withdraw from global leadership.
Biden contrasted his response to the war with Trump’s, who recently expressed dissatisfaction with NATO allies’ defense if invaded, stating that they would not bow down. Biden’s message to Putin was simple: “We will not walk away, we will not bow down!”
Biden is attempting to strike a balance between Israel and Gaza.
Biden, an American president, has emphasized his support for Israel while urging it to provide more aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza. He praised Israel as a lifelong supporter and the only American president to visit Israel during wartime. He emphasized Israel’s right to pursue Hamas but also emphasized its responsibility to protect innocent civilians in Gaza. Biden urged leaders not to view humanitarian aid as a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip.
Biden announced an emergency mission to build a port on Gaza’s Mediterranean coast to increase humanitarian aid to civilians, escalating America’s humanitarian contributions and bringing the military closer to the conflict. The temporary pier would increase daily humanitarian assistance in Gaza, but Israel must also contribute. The push comes as liberal and pro-Palestinian critics of Biden’s response to the war protest in early Democratic primary states, particularly Michigan, where over 100,000 people backed “uncommitted.”

Democrats continue to prioritize reproductive rights as a top issue.
Democrats have been focusing on reproductive rights since the U.S. Supreme Court scraped abortion protections in 2022. President Biden criticized Republicans for not codifying abortion protections or access to in vitro fertilization into federal law after Alabama’s Supreme Court threw the procedure into jeopardy. The issue was also highlighted in a White House guest list, including Kate Cox, a Texas woman who had to go to New Mexico for an abortion, and Latorya Beasley, a social worker from Birmingham, Alabama, trying to have a second child via IVF.
Biden criticized state laws banning the right to choose, criminalizing doctors, and forcing survivors of rape and incest to leave their states to get necessary care. He cited Cox’s story and questioned the potential consequences of a national ban on reproductive freedom. He questioned what freedoms the current chamber and predecessor are promising to take away.
Biden is reportedly collaborating with Republicans on immigration issues.
Republicans are targeting Biden’s age and immigration as key issues this year. They recently criticized the president for his handling of Laken Riley, a nursing student killed in Georgia by an illegal immigrant. Some conservatives have blamed Biden’s policies for her death, highlighting the importance of addressing immigration issues.
During his speech, President Biden criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for not mentioning Riley, an innocent young woman killed by an illegal. He expressed sympathy for her parents and referred to the bipartisan bill combining foreign aid and border restrictions, aiming to reduce illegal border crossing incentives. This remark drew criticism from Democrats.
Britt creates a dark portrayal of the country.
Britt, the youngest Republican woman elected to the Senate, used the Republicans’ response to the Statue of the Union to paint a bleak picture of the country under Biden. She argued that the American dream has turned into a nightmare for many and that the next generation will have fewer opportunities and freedoms. Britt also raised concerns over Biden’s fitness and criticized him as “not in command,” stating that the American family needs to have a tough conversation about the future of their nation.
Senator Britt delivered a speech in which she emphasized the importance of secure borders, stable prices, safe streets, and a strong defense for a great nation. She addressed “moms and dads” and expressed hope for the future. Other Republicans also viewed the speech as a message of hope, noting that voters will be presented with a choice this November. Ronna McDaniel, outgoing Republican National Committee Chair, praised Britt’s message, stating that a new generation of Americans can save the country with commonsense, conservative leadership.
