To call him, utter his name three times.

Michael Keaton returns in Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” as everyone’s favorite boisterous spirit.

The 1988 cult classic’s sequel was teased in two images posted by Warner Bros. One of the images had the “Batman” actor wearing a striped black-and-white outfit and frizzy hair. Fans experienced a wave of nostalgia as they saw the celebrity resembling his spectral self.

A picture of “Schitt’s Creek” actress Catherine O’Hara and “Stranger Things” star Winona Ryder, together with newcomers Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”), was also released by the studio. The quartet may be seen in what appears to be a cemetery, standing side by side in chic black apparel.

Following a failed effort and years of discussion, a sequel
The film’s production got underway in 2023 following years of discussions and an unsuccessful effort called “Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.”

In 2019, Burton expressed his doubts about the sequel’s possibility to USA TODAY, even though the film inspired a Broadway musical that same year.

“It was kind of scary for somebody who was maybe not that overly interested in doing it,” he stated. “It was such a beautiful thing for me to see all the cast, but he, sort of like a demon possession, just went right back into it.”

Additionally, Burton revealed that he and Keaton have exchanged ideas and talked about a sequel over the years.

The director stated, “He had no burning desire to do it unless it felt right.” “I believe our feelings were the same. If there was an emotional hook, then it would make sense.”

On September 6, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” opens in cinemas.
